"With the weak economy, is this a bad time to be a promoter or start a promoting business"?

I can honestly say, NO, this is NOT a bad time to be a promoter...

...in fact, this might be one of the best times, EVER!

I know you are thinking to yourself, "how can that be? All I hear on the news is:
High Gas prices...Rising Food costs...Major companies going bankrupt...Auto
companies laying off 1,000's of employees...Coffee stores closing 100's
of locations..."
With all the bad news in the headlines, it's easy to think it's a terrible time to work for yourself or start your own company...

...but fact is, it's the exact opposite.

I truly believe its a great time to get into this business. There is so much business out there right with thousands upon thousands of people looking for an escape from the daily trial and tribulations that their have to deal with at home and at work. Don't think twice, get the ball rolling on your new venture in event promotions.

Here are 3 HUGE reasons why it's a GREAT time to be a promoter:

1) Venues have fixed overhead costs and need to be filled in order to pay their bills and make money.

When times are tough, they rely MORE on promoters to help pull in their crowds.
Promoters only get paid for the people that they bring to the venue so if they
fill the place, its a win-win for the promoters and the venues.

Owners and managers that once felt they didn't need promoters to fill their
venue are quickly changing their thought process when business slows
down even a little.
Take advantage of this opportunity!

2) When you work for yourself, you can't be laid off:

Sure, business could slow down, but if you work hard you will never be out of a job...
...That is not true when you work for someone else.

You could be the best employee, but if you make too much money, then you
might be the first to go when they need to cut costs. If you are new to
the company then they might fire you first since you don't have
seniority. Like it or not, when you work for someone else, your career,
paycheck, and *life* are in their hands, not yours.

3) Promoting can be done in your part time:

With the cost of everything going up, who couldn't use some extra money to help them offset the high prices?

ACET, Inc. has received an immediate request to provide assistance to the devastation from the recent earthquake that has befallen the nation of Haiti. We are looking for anyone interested in going to Haiti to help for a 3- 6 month period. There are no particular skills sets defined at this point, except the willingness to help wherever needed. We will be presenting folks and highlighting their unique skills and trade qualifications, so if the opportunity to help in your area exists - it will be noted and presented. As you can well imagine, any skill that you may have - can be of great help.

Haiti Gets a Penny of Each U.S. Aid Dollar

January 27, 2010 -- AP-- Only 1 cent of each dollar the U.S. is spending on earthquake relief in Haiti is going in the form of cash to the Haitian government, according to an Associated Press review of relief efforts.

Less than two weeks after President Obama announced an initial $100 million for Haiti earthquake relief, U.S. government spending on the disaster has tripled to $317 million at latest count. That's just over $1 each from everyone in the United States.

Relief experts say it would be a mistake to send too much direct cash to the Haitian government, which is in disarray and has a history of failure and corruption.

"I really believe Americans are the most generous people who ever lived, but they want accountability," said Timothy R. Knight, a former US AID assistant director who spent 25 years distributing disaster aid. "In this situation they're being very deliberate not to just throw money at the situation but to analyze based on a clear assessment and make sure that money goes to the best place possible."

The AP review of federal budget spreadsheets, procurement reports and contract databases shows the vast majority of U.S. funds going to established and tested providers, who are getting everything from 40-cent pounds of pinto beans to a $3.4 million barge into the disaster zone.

"We are trying to respond as quickly as we can to this catastrophe of biblical proportions by mustering all of the resources that the United States government can bring to bear, first on rescue leading into relief, which is where we are right now, and hopefully seamlessly into recovery," said Lewis Lucke, U.S. special coordinator for relief and reconstruction.

Major relief efforts were launched within hours of the Jan. 12 earthquake that killed at least 150,000, devastated the capital of Port-au-Prince and affected a third of its 9 million people. Behind each effort has been cash and contracts, airline tickets to be purchased and ocean freighters to be leased.

Of each U.S. taxpayer dollar, 40 cents is going to the U.S. military, paying for security, search and rescue teams, and the Navy's hospital ship USNS Comfort.

Another 36 cents funds US AID's disaster assistance - everything from $5,000 generators to $35 hygiene kits with soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste for a family of five.

Just over a dime has already been spent on food: 122 million pounds of pinto beans, black beans, rice, corn soy blend and vegetable oil. When purchased in bulk, the actual food prices are relatively low. Pinto beans, for example, cost the U.S. government 40 cents a pound when purchased in 5 million-pound batches last week.

Getting the food to Haitians - paying for freighters, trucks and distribution centers, and the people to staff them, took another 10.5 cents from each dollar.

Initial disaster spending was aimed at saving lives; now the spending is shifting to recovery. The Obama administration wants to put about 1.5 cents of each dollar directly into Haitian quake survivors' hands by paying them to work. One program already in place describes paying 40,000 Haitians $3 per day for 20 days to clean up around hospitals and dig latrines. That project also includes renting 10 excavators and loaders, at $600 each, and 10 dump trucks at $50 a load.

One penny of each dollar is going straight to the shattered Haitian government, whose president is sleeping in a tent while struggling to organize an administration that was notoriously unstable even before the earthquake. A final half-cent funds three Dominican Republic hospitals near the Haitian border, where refugees have been begging for help.

The U.S. is providing the largest slice of a global response that totals more than $1 billion in government pledges. The European Union's 27 nations are contributing $575 million.

The U.S. also has long been the largest donor of ongoing foreign aid that Haiti depends on for up to 40 percent of its budget, with more than $260 million in U.S. money last year aimed at promoting stability, prosperity and democracy.

Private money also is flowing into Haiti - U.S. charities have raised $470 million for disaster relief, according to The Chronicle of Philanthropy, and the U.N. says total international giving - spent and pledged - has topped $2 billion.

The U.S. government funding flows through federal agencies that administer $2.6 billion already appropriated in the 2010 budget for foreign disaster relief, said Thomas Gavin, a spokesman at the White House Office of Management and Budget.

Gavin said there are no plans to ask Congress for more money.

"At this point, the costs incurred are well within the levels appropriated by Congress for emergency disaster assistance," he told the AP. "It's like your checking account, your family budget - you decide, 'OK, I'm going to spend "X" number of dollars on my groceries.' Well, we, as a country, set this money aside."

Haiti, was this the devils' work?

Short answer is hell to the yes!

This was a force that only had its own good in mind and not the people of the small nation state. This force sought to deplete the people of anything good in this world. This entity could care less for the people and 'their' resources. The devil wanted those people to be poor and ignorant. The devil sought to take all the abundance off the island and into the materialistic hands of its followers. But if I told you the ones who look like they were providing the most aid were truly the devils that were destroying our land our ancestors fought and lived for, would you believe. What can honest Haitian diaspora all over the world do to help their fellow Haitians rebuild Haiti? First we have to know more of our history to better understand the reasons Haitians were going through such hardships. By the end of this article you will realize even your own part in this and how we can help remedy the situation on the ground.

Its seems like a huge task for us to take on individually and it is! We have people all over strictly blaming Haitians for their place in this Westernized world. Even the tel-evangelist, Pat Robertson, had this to say, "They got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, "We will serve you if you'll get us free from the French." It's a true story. And so the devil said, "Okay, it's a deal." And they kicked the French out; you know, the Haitians revolted and got themselves free. But ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after the other, desperately poor." Even in my own household my white Jesus loving parents would hardly even say the word Voodoo or Vodun. So I know from experience that this is not something that is the reason for Haiti's hardships in being a free and sovereign state in the world. Voodoo is a religion like any other one! With is upside along with the not so upside. Christians and other religions do rituals all day long while reaching out to spirits of the unseen. Matter of fact Haiti is dominated by the works of the Catholic Church. January 12th white Jesus left thousands dead and millions homeless so it cannot be Haiti's faiths' fault.

There are many actual geopolitical reasons why Haiti isn't advancing. A big reason Haiti is the way it is because they fought France for their independence and won it. Another reason is Haiti's self sufficiency was strategically destroyed. Farmers were pushed off their land and forced into slums for Big-Businesses to have their way with the peoples lives. They were no longer defendant on the land and mother nature but the individuals that provided low wage jobs that directly lowered the living conditions of all but the wealthy Haitian "aristocrats". For god sakes it was designed to be like that after the once slave colony fought and won its independence in 1803. Haiti is the only slave-based society to have the slaves free themselves through sheer will and determination.

The things these slave owners would do to try to stay in power was truly devilish. I don't know how one can hang and slice open a pregnant woman on a farm and expect the "slaves" to just rub it off. The slave owners would do anything to intimidate our ancestors and they revolted hardcore taking the land for any black that wanted to be free in the world. So if you truly believe the superpowers of that day were comfortable with a free black state that ruled itself than you have been truly misled on the reason behind the Louisiana Purchase which created the states many of my readers are from. They not only disliked the idea but wanted to bring Haiti to its knees! The US quickly input a trade embargo and it was not lifted for 60 years until Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Haiti also paid France for its losses equivalent to $21 billion today. As of today the relief efforts have raised over $2 billion.

After Haiti became histories only slave state to free itself and declare itself a country it quickly split up into different "kingdoms". For some reason its almost in our blood to be disunited or so we think. We not only have to watch who is coming in house but we have to seriously clean house and spirit. Haiti's leader have succumbed to the west time and time again. That devils trappings are very enticing. In this New age we have to make sure we as a worldly people don't leave people like that making big decisions. For Haiti to rise out of these predicaments in our lifetime or our children's we need to figure out how we can create some heavy investment in the country that dramatically raises the living conditions of each Haitians mind and spirit.

Entities like the Clinton Fund and www.iadb.org are finding ways to do it but why can't we. It is time for all Haitians to get thier families in order. Stop the BS and start uniting. As for individuals or even small communities it will be an extremely difficult and arduous task but when we unite as a peoples out of Africa we will see our true power as One Nation.

Haitians need to have control of their destiny and stay a Sovereign Nation and that is a fact our ancestors would rise out the grave to defend. If not she will become a modern day colonial state with NGO's, "Big Businesses" and foreign governments controlling the country through its banks. No to 'modern day colonial' because Haiti can and should stay a Sovereign Nation. If both France and US wanted to help Haiti prosper, they would have done so a long time ago. It is also said that Haiti has had $2 billion in aid in the last ten years. WTF! That seems to have went to the visiting tourists but who am I to judge!

It's such a breath of fresh air to see Haitians mobilizing to go overseas. While I am thanking that God the international community is contributing their efforts as well. I truly want to contribute to the betterment of our island. I would like to however go beyond what the media is portraying as the "only" place that has been affected and go to the outskirts, the areas that have been neglected. Leogane has been deeply affected and I have not heard about doctors and nurses going there. Does anyone know of any doctors or nurses that are willing to go to Leogane and other similar areas? Thank you.

"Some information is starting to come in. Damage goes at least as far south as Jacmel, but to the north damage is not so bad (have heard from people in San Marc who say there is no damage there). However, the effects have spread to those areas indirectly - food has been given and in some cases taken for PauP so they are facing a shortage in food, and people are fleeing PauP to try to get medical help - the hospitals are overflowing all over Haiti and even flooding into D.R. Thus even areas that did not suffer damage are feeling the effects of the quake."

Yéle Haiti has pulled together a group of like minded organizations and first responders in order to help coordinate the delivery of emergency services and materials needed by victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Each or the organizations will undertake their own fundraising and on-the-ground operations, but have agreed to share resources, collaborate when it makes sense and avoid duplication.

The members of this new Haiti Earthquake Alliance are:

· AmeriCares

· Friends of the World Food Program

· ONExONE Foundation

· Pan American Development Foundation

· Airline Ambassadors

· The Belinda Stronach Foundation

Just formed in the last day, the Alliance has already pulled together four airlifts of medical supplies, food and other emergency supplies – along with teams of doctors. These airlifts will go out beginning Saturday. Keep checking back to this website for details.
