A Comedy About Two High School Students – One Overachiever, The Other A Senior Going On His 15th Year Of School – Mac & Devin
Go To High School Heads To Retail On July 3, 2012!
BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Snoopadelic Films and Anchor Bay Films announced the Blu-ray™ and DVD release of the laugh-out-loud comedy, Mac & Devin Go to High School, starring The Doggfather of Hip-Hop and the film’s Executive Producer, Snoop Dogg, and 2011 Grammy-nominated rapper of the platinum hit “Black And Yellow,” Wiz Khalifa. Directed by Dylan Brown (Boss’n Up) – and following the release of the chart-topping soundtrack of the same name – Mac & Devin Go to High School heads to retail on July 3, 2012 for an SRP of $24.99 for the Blu-ray™ and $19.98 for the DVD. In addition to Snoop and Wiz, Mac & Devin Go to High School stars Mike Epps (Next Friday, Lottery Ticket), Andy Milonakis (2 Dudes and a Dream, Who’s Your Caddy?), Affion Crocket (Never Back Down, Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins) and features voice over by rapper Mystikal as Slow Burn, as well as a cameo appearance by the hit pop group, Far East Movement. The comedy is filled with some of the latest music from Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa, including the hit “Young, Wild and Free,” and also features Bruno Mars, Curren$y, Juicy J and Mike Posner.
In Mac & Devin Go to High School, valedictorian hopeful Devin Overstreet (Wiz Khalifa) struggles to pen his graduation speech when it becomes clear that all his academic overachievements left him with little to no life experiences. He finds an unlikely inspiration in Mac Johnson (Snoop Dogg), the least achieving student on campus. Mac – a 15-year senior and consummate ladies man – is smitten by the school's new substitute chemistry teacher. He soon realizes that the only way he'll truly have a chance with her is if he finally graduates high school. In 3 weeks time, Mac must cram four years of high school academics, and Devin must cram four years of teenage experience. Snoop Dogg's ability to stay at the forefront of popular culture and connect with his fans has resulted in unwavering relevance. While he’s a TV and movie star, the founder and coach of a hugely successful youth football league and a savvy adapter of new technology, Snoop Dogg remains, without a doubt, a force in the hip-hop world.
As the leading force behind the film’s production, Snoop Dogg conceived the project’s idea and began piecing together Mac & Devin Go To High School in Dec ember of 2010. As the Executive Producer, music supervisor, and chief financier, Snoop Dogg and his team brought this coming-to-age story to life.
Wiz Khalifa took the rap world by storm in 2011 with the release of his Grammy-nominated platinum hit "Black And Yellow." Wiz released his major label debut, "Rolling Papers," in March 2011, which has gone on to reach gold-certification and has spawned 3 multi-platinum singles.
