Financial Juneteenth lessons from this story:
1) Entertainment is a very fickle business, and not a very good place to get rich. Other than the select few, most actors in Hollywood spend their time struggling.
2) Try to have good attorneys and agents in place if you sign contracts like this one that might give the company all of the upside. Sometimes, the company has so much leverage, however, that you can’t even get a good deal with solid representation. But you owe it to yourself to at least try.
3) Never assume that your best days are ahead of you. Your 15 minutes of fame may really be just that: 15 minutes of fame, with another 30,000 minutes spent trying to recapture what you’ve always believed to be your destiny. Just ask any washed up rapper out there.
